Congratulations!!! You are going to be a mommy!
Motherhood is the most beautiful thing there is.
And before you embark on motherhood, we give you some important knowledge as a mother: for the first few years, a small child sails blindly on the care of its mother. This responsibility that you feel for your child from now on stems from a primal force.
What all do you need to know as an (expectant) mother?
Around the birth of the child, there are some themes that, according to scientist Stern, are of great concern to women. Life theme: can I keep my child alive? Love theme: am I able to love my baby and vice versa? Can my baby get attached to me? Network theme: can I create a network around me that supports, understands and protects me. And finally, the identity theme; how do all the roles you play as a woman change when you become a mother.
What else do you need to know about parenthood?
Here some dry theory about what scientists write about parenthood: parenthood is a complicated process that involves the activation of many complex psychological processes. The transition to parenthood is a radical change in the family system. The roles of partners and parents must be reinvented and redistributed. Today's parents spend more time with their children than in the past.
How will you emerge as a mother?
That is very difficult to determine in advance. Also, one does not know how the partner is developing as a father. One may experience the other partner in the parenting role as a stranger. As a parent, you develop your own identity (not joint!) of parenthood. This happens sometime between pregnancy and the first 18 months postpartum. As a mother, you need time to feel comfortable in that role. This is different for everyone. Some mothers feel like complete mothers right away. For other mothers, it takes a lot longer to feel comfortable. For fathers, it may take longer because mother has a head start. A mother has carried the baby in her womb for 9 months. It is good to take the time to feel comfortable in this role. No one should be embarrassed if this takes time.
In addition to caring for the baby, it is also important for parents not to forget to enjoy the baby. The biggest cliché is true. It flies by. Make sure you don't miss it. We have developed an online course with the Free University that magnifies the happiness of a young family! The course is going to make you and your partner a super parenting team!
